Managing Director (m/f/d)

Our client, IDEE GmbH with headquarters in Gerlingen near Stuttgart, is one of the leading European Marketing Groups of independent electrical distributors. With an aggregated annual sales turnover of over 4.5 billion €, IDEE is the market leading service provider in the areas of supply chain, purchasing and marketing and a reliable partner for the most important international suppliers of electrical material. Due to an upcoming succession plan because of the retirement of the current managing director, a new manager (m/f/d) is being sought.

The managing director will be responsible for the company’s growth strategy and future market positioning. You will manage the company with a clear goal orientation and drive the achievement of the required results, thereby positioning it successfully in terms of international competition. You are responsible for the purchasing and marketing strategy as well as the supplier relations, in close cooperation and aligned with group members, suppliers and IDEE headquarters. The further development of the strategy also includes the establishment of sustainable processes and structures, as well as safeguarding the existing open, modern and internationally oriented management culture. Leading the team and running a trustworthy cooperation with the shareholders and the entire management team will be part of the specific responsibilities. The managing director reports directly to the shareholders or to the board of directors.

Your responsibilities include setting goals, making plans and executing required actions in a reliable way. You are a natural win-win thinker with a systematic, focused and persistent approach to realise short and long term results.

As a modern managing director, you have successfully completed a technical or business degree and ideally have had further education (preferably an Executive MBA). You show a proven track record of international success, knowledge and know-how in the European B2B (electrical) distribution business. Ideally, you have a high level of expertise in purchasing, marketing and business development and have successfully  implemented digitalisation strategies. You should have good analytical and strategical skills to proactively identify market opportunities for the IDEE group and propose initiatives including business cases. As a charming negotiator, you combine an entrepreneurial spirit with full accountability, punctuality, effectiveness and efficiency, a cooperative and solution-oriented mindset and outstanding communication skills, as well as the ability to get the buy-in of various stakeholders in a diverse group structure.

You are representative, flexible, open, transparent, honest, reflective, interested in people, an excellent listener, positive and able to inspire others with your enthusiasm and energy. A high international travel willingness and fluent business English are required.
